For 6th-12th grades, we strive to help students be more deeply connected to God and each other. Through prayer and Bible study students experience God together in community. Connection Groups are a place for students to ask questions about the Bible, life, and to find support through prayer and God’s Word for their needs. We meet in the Student Life Center.

For 6th - 12th grade, Big Weekend is a discipleship weekend. It is a retreat where small groups meet for studies in discipleship, and we attend three worship services. The small group times are led by leaders in our church, with the goal of beginning or strengthening the ongoing process of discipleship in each student's life.

The 2023 theme is ReKindle from 2 Timothy 1:6a.

“Rekindle the gift of God that is in you . . . ”
There are times in our Christian walk when we are not as passionate about God and as committed to Him as we ought to be. This is unfortunately common in the Christian life. Just as Paul exhorted Timothy to “rekindle” his faithfulness to the Lord, the focus this year at Big Weekend 2023 is how we as Christians can rekindle our relationship with the Lord so that it is stronger and deeper than ever before. For unbelievers, it is an opportunity to hear the Gospel message and what it means to be a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Sunday mornings at Edmond’s First are full of opportunities for students to fulfill God’s vision by connecting to Christ, His church, His Word, and His Mission.

Students have the choice to worship in the Worship Center or belong to a Connections Group in the Student Life Center at either 9:30 AM or 11:00 AM.

Students are encouraged to participate in both Worship and Connection Groups. Connection groups start as a large group then break out into smaller groups based on grade and gender to allow for deeper conversations and spiritual growth.

Meet in the Student Life Center, located on the second floor above Fellowship Hall, for Midweek Worship music and Bible study.

The Student Ministry is beginning sign-ups for Student Discipleship Groups (D-Groups). D-groups meet semesterly with a group of 4-6 people (1 adult leader and 4-5 students of the same gender). They read through scripture together, memorize scripture, learn about the principles of discipleship, and are challenged in their prayer life and evangelism. The group and their leader establish the best time to meet during the week, and they typically meet for an hour.

If your student is interested in signing up for a D-Group, you can sign up online below, email Ashton Wright awright@fbcedmond.org, sign up in the Student Life Center (SLC) on Sunday or Wednesday, or contact the Church Office which is available Monday – Thursday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, 405-341-0253.

Student D-Groups might be new to some of you, so please reach out if you have questions! They are an excellent way for students to grow in their faith and to follow Christ closer with the help of godly friends.
