College Ministry

Edmond’s First Baptist Church College Ministry exists to help students deepen their relationship with Christ. We want to do this by providing opportunities for both worship and small group Bible study. We desire to see students grow in their faith while building relationships with other believers whose impact will last far beyond their college years.

Our college leadership team has a heart for students. We want to meet not only the spiritual needs of our students but also physical, emotional, and day to day needs as well. Most of all, we want to provide a solid foundation of scriptural truths, support and Godly encouragement for our students to stand on as they face the struggles and joys that college life brings. Whether our students are states away from family or simply blocks away, we want to be their home-away-from-home.

Where do college students go?

All college aged students meet in Fellowship Hall. For more information please ask those at either of the Visitor Centers in the Worship Center Foyer and they will help guide you to our door.

Need a ride? Don’t have your own transportation? Don’t want to go to church by yourself? Don’t want to lose your great parking spot? Whatever your reason – we’ll pick you up at 9:00 AM on Sunday mornings during the school year for Worship and Bible study and have you back at the dorms by 12:30 PM. Please let us know that you’ll be joining us so we can be expecting you. Contact Billy Fuller and we’ll save you a spot!

What is Home Away from Home?

This is a ministry where we link up college students with families, many of these students are either very far away from their Parents for the first time or just need a little encouragement every once in awhile.

What we ask of the families that choose to join us in this project is simple. Keep in contact with your student, if you would like invite them over for a dinner (most of these students don't get home cooked meals for whole semesters) send them letters, find out what is going on in their classes, if you would like offer your house as a quiet study refuge.

This is a great opportunity to help students feel as though they are not alone.

If you are a retired family or a family of 10 pray about this ministry and how God can use you to make a difference in a students life.

How Can I Contact Billy?

Experience More by Knowing God!

God is the ultimate reality. Charles Spurgeon, a great 19th Century English pastor said, "The highest science, the loftiest speculation, the mightiest philosophy, which can ever engage our attention is the name, the nature, the person, the work, the doings, and the existence of the great God."

God reveals Himself in His inspired word, the Bible: “All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”  (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

God’s fullest revelation of Himself is in Jesus Christ, and the good news about Him is found throughout the Bible. After His resurrection, He was walking with two of His followers, and the Bible says, “Beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He interpreted for them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures.”  (Luke 24:27)

Volunteer Opportunities

We are always looking to “plug our students in” where they feel that they have a heart to serve. Whether this be helping with the children, preschool, or youth departments, singing in the choir, playing in the orchestra, or ministering to our seniors – we have a place for everyone.

In-Home College Bible Study

In-home Bible studies provide college students a “home” to relax, unwind, and retreat to when the pressures of “college life” are overwhelming. Students are able to feel more comfortable when discussing Biblical truths as well as what God is doing in their lives.

Servant Day

Students are provided with opportunities to be Jesus’ hands and feet and to help meet practical needs of a hurting world. These opportunities range from working at the Edmond Boys Ranch to helping pack boxes of supplies at Feed the Children. We are always looking for opportunities to serve those within our own church family as well.

Bible Study Breakfast

Once a semester our college ministry provides a full breakfast for all college students during our Sunday Morning Bible study hour. We encourage students to bring friends, classmates, and roommates as we try to make this event “different” than the usual study group by inviting special speakers or having a unique focused area of discussion.

Campus Events

“This is the best time of your life” is what people say about college. We believe that being part of campus clubs, athletic teams, and organizations is important. We try to join in these activities whenever we can. We provide lunches for BCM Noondays, speak at Campus Crusade and BCM services, attend athletic events and Homecoming activities, and even tailgating at football games just to name a few. We want to share in the lives of our students and one way to do this is to be a part of what they are a part of.
