Q. What is BUILDING TOGETHER?
A. It is a five-year campaign to help the EFBC Family provide additional space in our Fellowship Hall and to construct a new building to provide additional space for our growing Connection Group Ministry, an expanded Kitchen with new equipment, and space for our growing church family to gather for fellowship, inspiration, conferences, etc. It is an educational and motivational tool designed to unite us to follow God's direction for our church by using our personal resources in a wise and faith-filled manner for the sake of God's kingdom.
Q. Why is BUILDING TOGETHER a five-year campaign?
A. It takes a lot of work and expense to conduct a campaign like BUILDING TOGETHER. By stretching the campaign over five years we will maximize the return for our effort, allow our membership to make larger commitments, and give opportunity for our lagging economy to recover.
Q. Can I divide my present giving between the general budget and BUILDING TOGETHER?
A. Please don't! BUILDING TOGETHER must be "above and beyond" gifts. If we reduce our regular budget giving, we will paralyze our local church program, reduce our mission support, and diminish our church's witness in our community.
Q. I am giving a tithe of my income to the church budget. Isn't that enough?
A. Your commitment to tithe is commendable and is greatly appreciated, but scripture portrays the tithe as a starting place, not a finishing line. Many in our church give much more than a tithe. BUILDING TOGETHER challenges us to give sacrificially. Only you and the Lord know how much more you can give. Remember, "not equal gifts, but equal sacrifice" is the key concept in BUILDING TOGETHER.
Q. How will we make gifts to BUILDING TOGETHER?
A. You may make gifts using your regular offering envelopes or online. Remember to designate the amount to the Building Fund.
Q. How often should I make payments on BUILDING TOGETHER?
A. You can give to BUILDING TOGETHER weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually, or even a single-time gift. Most of us will find it easier to make our gifts systematically, on a regular basis. Many of us will choose to make our BUILDING TOGETHER gifts at the same time we give our tithe to the budget.
Q. Will new members be given the opportunity to give to BUILDING TOGETHER?
A. Yes, there will be a follow-up plan to provide new members an opportunity to participate in BUILDING TOGETHER.
Q. What other ways may gifts be offered to the BUILDING TOGETHER campaign?
A. Some of us might consider contributing non-cash gifts such as stocks, bonds, real estate, vehicles, boats, jewelry, etc. To learn how to make such contributions and receive a tax advantage, call the Church Office and ask for the Administration Office, 405-341-0253. The Church Office is available Monday - Thursday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, and Fridays, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
Q. What happens if we receive more money than is needed to build and furnish the new building?
A. Funds received beyond those required for the building project will be committed to the implementation of our new vision to plant churches here in Edmond, in the 32 "centers of lostness" in North America, and around the world.
Q. Will my gifts to BUILDING TOGETHER constitute a permanent investment?
A. Yes. Consider the example of George W. Carroll, a wealthy and generous Texas philanthropist. He gave large sums to Baptist causes, but lost most of his wealth in the Great Depression. He was viewing a building he had helped to construct when someone asked him, "Don't you wish you had kept some of the money you gave to build this building?" He answered, "I have no regrets. Everything I kept for myself is lost and that which I gave away has been preserved." And so it may be in our lives.
