Current Worship Emphasis

SUNDAY MORNINGS

"Rediscovering Fire," at 9:30 AM in the Worship Center.  A seven week worship emphasis from January 17 through February 28.

For the next seven weeks, we are going to focus our thinking and teaching on Sunday mornings on the subject of the Holy Spirit. The series is titled REDISCOVERING FIRE. Fire is one of the symbols of the Holy Spirit in Scripture, and fire also symbolizes purity. (Our word "pure" comes from the Greek puros, which means "fire." We are "purified" by the fire of the Spirit.)

Teilhard de Chardin wrote this thought nearly a century ago:

  • “Someday after mastering winds, waves, tides and gravity, we shall harness the energies of love. And then, for the second time in the history of the world, man will discover fire.”

In Pastor's opinion, the rediscovery of the Work of the Holy Spirit is the epoch-making event that needs to happen in the church. We need to rediscover the purifying, sin-killing and heart-warming presence of the Living Christ, who is present by His Spirit.

SUNDAY EVENINGS

"iGod," at 6:05 PM in the Worship Center - Contemporary, Casual 605 Worship Experience.  A seven week worship emphasis from January 10 through February 21.

We are studying the character and nature of God by studying his names. The series is titled iGOD. Yahweh, Yahweh Yireh, Yahweh Nissi, Yahweh Tsidkenu, Yahweh Shammah, Yahweh Rapha, Yahweh Shalom - are the names we will study to discover who is this God who has made Himself known to us fully and finally in Jesus Christ. The musical worship is led by our 605 band - which is excellent with a plus!

WEDNESDAY EVENINGS

Mid-Week worship at 6:30 PM in Fellowship Hall.  A nine-part study on the Seven Churches of the Book of Revelation from January 6 through March 3.

On Wednesdays at MID-WEEK, Pastor is teaching on The Seven Churches of the Book of Revelation, from Revelation 1-3. These seven churches are symbolic of all of Christ's churches in every period of history. Edmond's First Baptist is in the story, too. Help Pastor to determine how we can respond to Christ's sober command: “Anyone who has an ear should listen to what the Spirit says to the churches."
