Dan Mingo
Media Director & Music Associate
Dan is a missionary kid who was raised on the field of South Africa in a small town named Ladysmith in the province of Kwa-Zulu Natal. His family moved there when he was only 5 years old in 1986, and he moved back to the states when he went to attend college in 2000. Both of his parents came from broken homes that did not know the Lord, but through the Lord's grace they were saved and have raised three boys whom are serving the Lord faithfully in different churches. His father Don was a godly leader and example in the home and Dan says he hopes to lead his family through the same strength and leadership that his father has. His mother Kathy is one of the most godly woman he has ever met, and he understands that without a mother who supported her husband wholeheartedly nothing they accomplished would have been possible. Dan has two brothers, his older brother Donald, who is currently serving as a Youth Pastor in Wisconsin, and Dennis who is serving as a Youth Pastor in California. His father came back to the states a few years ago and is currently the Senior Pastor of Grace Bible Chapel in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
While growing up on the mission field one of the highlights of Dan's life came as a teenager, when he was able to help his father start a ministry that included a church, a feeding centre, a Bible Institute, and reached out the community.
Although Dan never felt a direct call to preach he has always felt the Lord calling him to serve in the local church. He was unsure how the Lord would use him at the time, but Dan went to college to study Broadcasting. He graduated in 2004 with a B.S. in Broadcasting from Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, Florida. He went on to get his M.A. in 2006 in Media Communications from Pensacola Christian College. He began the process of getting a Seminary degree in 2009, but since moving here that has been put on hold. One day he hopes to obtaining a Seminary degree so that he can better serve at EFBC in a broader spectrum.
While he was getting his masters he met his beautiful wife Jennifer. They were married in 2006 and have two beautiful little girls, Addison and Makenna. His wife Jennifer taught Music at Pensacola Christian Academy for 3 years, and Dan worked on the Video staff of Pensacola Christian College before the Lord called him to EFBC. Dan loves spending time with his family and watching his little girls get more and more active each day. Addison was born in 2007 and Makenna in 2009. Dan is a die hard Green Bay Packer fan and got to experience his first experience at Lambeau field with both his brothers and father just a few Christmas' ago. He plays guitar, although he hasn't played in a while, and enjoys listening to almost any style of music that has a positive uplifting message. Dan and Jennifer enjoy taking walks together, going to orchestra's and opera's, and watching a good funny movie together.
Dan believes that two books in the Old Testament have impacted his view on reaching people and striving to live like Christ. "The example of Hosea gives a great picture on the loving God that we have, and how miserably we fail him day in and day out. When you see the picture represented in that book, you see God's heart. How desperately he wants us to come back to him, how he loves us so despite all of our downfalls. This helps me realize that I need to strive to be like Him, strive to serve Him, but that if I fall He will be their to pick me up and take me back." The book of Esther is also a book that Dan says has impacted him greatly. He states, "We live in a country and in a time where we can serve our God and not worry about it. But we also live in a time were we need to step up to plate and get involved in our communities and around the world. Esther was put in a position were she had to step up to plate no matter the cost. The words in Esther 4:14 ring true and speak to me day in and day out, 'perhaps you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this.' We all play a role, and if we don't step up to the plate, God will use someone else.
Dans goal for this ministry is to use the media department to outreach this community and beyond. He says, "We have all seen how technology can impact our world. It is amazing to me the countless numbers of people you can reach through television, the
internet, and other mediums. I pray the Lord can help us to best use this means of communication to reach as many people to Christ as possible. I am excited to see how God will use this particular part of the ministry and how much he will enable it to bloom in the future. I hope to stretch this ministry beyond what anyone thought possible when it initially started, and I know that it is only possible through God's help."
