Arrean Corbin
Parent’s Day Out Director
As a little girl Arrean dreamed of teaching. She prepared for this career at Southern University in Baton Rouge, majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in Math. After graduation, relying on her strengths in math, she took a job in mortgage banking.
Arrean and her husband, Michael, have been blessed with four children. They also have been blessed with five grandchildren.
Fifteen years ago Arrean had the chance to stay at home with their youngest child. Michelle was four at the time. Arrean volunteered in
the children’s area, and around that time she was also asked to teach the kindergarten class at the daycare center. She recalls, “After careful consideration and prayer I accepted the position as Teacher/van driver in August, 1992. Before the closing of the day care I went back into mortgage banking, but to my surprise that is not where God wanted me, so I returned to First Baptist Church of Edmond in 1996 as Youth Secretary. In 1998 I was asked to serve as Children’s coordinator until a Children’s Minister was called.
In January, 2000 Arrean’s prayer was, “God lead me where you want me to be.” That year she was appointed as Parent’s Day out Director of Edmond's First Baptist
Church. While in this position, her goal and prayer has been dedicated to providing a safe loving Christian environment to enhance the spiritual, emotional, mental, physical and social needs of the children and paid childcare workers under her supervision.
Arrean’s favorite Bible verse has proved true over and over in her life. It reads, “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:6)
