This is your invitation to be one of 52 members of EFBC who will travel by tour bus from our parking lot to the Madill campus of OBHC (Oklahoma Baptist Home for Children) Homes for Girls on Saturday, June 2, to tour and participate in the dedication of the new double cottage.

There is no charge for the bus ride or for lunch, and you will enjoy great fellowship with good folks during the bus ride. To make your reservation, call the Church Office, which is available Monday thru Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Fridays from 8:00 AM to noon.

What is Baptist Home for Girls?

Baptist Home for Girls, the newest campus of OBHC, became reality in 1976 when former Oklahoma Governor Raymond Gary and his wife, Emma, donated 37 acres of their ranch to start a children’s home just 6 miles south of Madill, Oklahoma.

The mission of Baptist Home for Girls is to help young girls become godly, virtuous women that reflect Christ’s love for others and to give them hope for the future by providing a Christian home and sharing Christ’s love for them.

The girls attend Madill Public Schools and are encouraged to participate in a variety of school activities. Each cottage attends a local Southern Baptist church, and the girls are involved in a variety of church-related activities. The staff share their faith with the children and encourage them to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

EFBC joins nearly 50,000 other Southern Baptist Churches in promoting the work of our North American Mission Board during March of each year. The North American Mission Board (NAMB) exists to work with Southern Baptist churches, associations, and state conventions in mobilizing Southern Baptists as a missional force to reach the 259,000,000 unchurched North Americans with the gospel of Jesus Christ through evangelism and church planting.

Since NAMB’s formation in 1997, more than 20,000 churches have been formed. That’s an average of more than 1,500 new churches every year, with a large percentage being ethnic or African-American.

You can be a part of our church’s response to the exciting challenge of reaching North America for Christ by Praying … Going … and Giving! Use the Prayer Guide inserted in this bulletin each day this week to guide you in prayer on behalf of NAMB and its work.

As you pray, remember Wayne Bristow and Billy Fuller as they travel to New York City later this month in anticipation of a hands-on mission trip during 2013. Perhaps the Lord will lay it upon your heart to be a part of that mission effort.

You can also participate by giving. Our church receives a World Mission Offering every Sunday. Sixteen percent of that offering goes directly to the North American Mission Board as our gift to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering. In 2011, that gift amounted to $30,489 above and beyond our ongoing Cooperative Program support.

FIRST FAMILY of Edmond

I wanted to take the time to ‘thank you’ for your warm welcome and kind embrace of our family. Dana and I, along with Gracelyn, Tyler, and Tessa, have enjoyed our recent weeks with you, and we are eagerly anticipating God’s blessings in the foreseeable future as we worship and serve Him together. As we continue to get acquainted, I wanted to share even more of our heart and lives with you so that we can truly grow together as a family of faith!

Local Church Ministry As a family our heart has always been to support and serve the local church. We believe that it is through corporate worship, fellowship, and ‘doing life’ together that our faith challenges each other to grow. We are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the body of believers at Edmond First during this season and we look forward to the ‘life’ memories we will make during our time here.

Oklahoma Baptist University Our family relocated in December of 2009 to Shawnee through prayerful consideration of a humbling opportunity to train and teach future servants of Christ. My teaching responsibilities at OBU allow me to pour into students with various callings and ambitions and to help equip them to fulfill God’s plan for their lives. We could have never imagined serving the Lord in this capacity when I surrendered to ministry over twelve years ago. It has truly been a blessing to be a part of ALL that God is doing on Bison Hill as He transforms and shapes the hearts and lives of our students.

While my primary responsibilities are to OBU, I am willing to serve you in any way I can. I consider it an honor and a privilege to serve as your interim preacher, and I will make myself available whenever possible.

From the Pulpit Much of my personal calling in ministry is related to my passion for the Word of God and for preaching. I’m grateful for the legacy of First Edmond as a church built on the faithful and fervent proclamation of God’s truth. I am humbled to be associated with such an established heritage. My prayer is that we will maintain this high commitment to the transforming power of Scripture during our corporate worship with clear and relevant biblical exposition as we explore the depths of God’s Word together.

Only the Lord knows what great things are in store for His people at Edmond First. God has assembled such a tremendous staff to lead and serve you and it is an honor for me to work with them as we watch His plan unfold! Thank you for your faithfulness as we celebrate His.

In His grace,

R. Scott Pace, Ph.D.
